Avalos Fine Portraiture was established in 1947 after Jack Avalos returned home from military service in Europe. Prior to his discharge Mr. Avalos apprenticed for a gentleman who was both an oil painter and photographer. It was there that Mr. Avalos absorbed the fundamentals of creating fine portraits. His mastery of lighting, composition, and posing served him well when he opened his first photography studio.

In 1974 Mr. Avalos’ son Rick joined the business and for 45 years has carried on the tradition and values passed on by his father while ushering Avalos Fine Portraiture well into it’s 7th decade of service to southern Colorado.
